Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 215 students in grades 8–12 on a beautiful 1,100-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics, and the outdoors.
The Opportunity:
Fountain Valley School seeks experienced and dynamic registered nurse for our school nurse position. The RN reports to the Director of Health Services and will be responsible for the care of our students in a college preparatory boarding environment. This person works closely with our health care team consisting of the director, three staff nurses, counselors, physician medical director and athletic trainer.
This position will work three 12 hr shifts per week Monday through Friday plus one weekend per month consisting of 4 hrs each on Saturday and Sunday. This position is approximately 36 hours a week. First physical day at work will be in August 2025. Exact Date TBD. Positions includes “On Call” hours once every four weeks and one weeknight. Overnight shifts may be needed.
General Duties:
- Medication Administration
- Physical Assessment and evaluation both in clinic and in the field.
- Case Management
- Regular consultation with physician
- Bedside patient care
- Mental health support
- Maintain medical records and state required records
- Accompanying students to medical appointments
- Patient and staff education
Qualifications:
- Current Colorado or Multi State Compact RN License required
- School Nurse and/or outpatient acute care clinic experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Special Services Provider License preferred
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR/FA and AED certification required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of hire.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: indoors and outdoors working with high school students
- Physical Demands: able to do a combination of sit, stand and lift up to 40 lbs for at least 8 hours per day; occasional after hours, weekend and/ or weeknight obligations.
- Working Relationships: students, parents, outside vendors and all other employees.
Salary: $50,000 - $70,000, depending on experience
