Job Summary
This is a Registered Nurse (RN) position within an Oncology Infusion team. The role provides direct patient care in an outpatient setting, including assessment, administration of treatments, and monitoring during infusion therapy.
The RN works in collaboration with physicians and clinical staff to support safe and effective delivery of care throughout the treatment process.
This role operates Monday–Friday with 8- or 10-hour shifts available. Full-time and part-time positions are available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Start and maintain peripheral IVs and central venous access devices (Mediport); training available if needed.
- Assess, evaluate, and implement care for oncology patients before, during, and after treatment in an ambulatory setting.
- Calculate medication dosing and infusion rates accurately.
- Mix, prepare, and administer treatments as prescribed per protocol.
- Monitor for hypersensitivity and infusion reactions and respond appropriately.
- Provide treatment education to patients and families.
- Provide patient advocacy, education, and emotional support.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
- Function effectively within a team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active, and in good standing State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
- Current BLS certification
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), including Epic
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Experience in oncology, critical care, emergency nursing, and/or outpatient infusion
