As a Job Specialist in our Secure Document Destruction department, you'll work alongside adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them learn job skills while processing confidential documents for businesses throughout the region.
No previous job coaching experience is required. We provide paid training.
Every day is a little different, but responsibilities include:

Coach and encourage adults with disabilities as they learn workplace skills

Process confidential documents for secure destruction

Sort, move, and prepare materials for shredding

Help keep the work area clean, organized, and safe

Monitor quality and follow security procedures to protect confidential information

Complete simple daily documentation on participant progress and behaviors
-
Provide encouragement, redirection, and positive coaching throughout the workday

Communicate with supervisors regarding participant progress or concerns
-
Assist with loading and unloading secure document containers as needed
If you enjoy driving and have a good driving record, there may be opportunities to train as a Secure Document Driver (CSR) for additional responsibilities and pay. This is not required for this position.

This is an active position that includes standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and moving materials throughout the day.

The shredding facility can become warm during the summer months and may contain paper dust. This position may not be the best fit for individuals with significant dust allergies or sensitivities.

High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, production, recycling, custodial, retail, food service, caregiving, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or customer service is helpful but not required

Valid driver's license preferred

Basic computer skills for documentation

Ability to write clear daily notes regarding participant progress

Must successfully complete a criminal background check

Must complete agency-paid training, including:

CPR/First Aid

MANDT (behavior management/de-escalation)

Client-specific trainings

Other required agency trainings
