Position Overview
This role goes beyond traditional cake decorating. The Cake Decorator & Bakery Production Associate plays a critical role in daily production, including decorating cakes and cupcakes, producing coffee cakes and other baked items, operating commercial mixers and ovens, managing inventory, and supporting overall bakery operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
We are seeking an experienced Cake Decorator & Bakery Production Associate with several years of hands-on decorating experience, proven speed, and the creative ability to execute beautiful cakes at volume. This role is approximately 50 percent cake decorating and 50 percent bakery production, with the decorating portion expected to grow as our cake business continues to expand.
Core Responsibilities
Cake Decorating
- Decorate cakes, cupcakes, and specialty items to Vin-Chet Bakery standards
- Execute clean, consistent designs while maintaining production speed
- Demonstrate creativity while working within established styles and timelines
- Prepare icings, fillings, and toppings as needed
- Maintain consistency across high-volume cake orders
Bakery Production
- Produce coffee cakes and other baked goods according to established recipes and procedures
- Operate commercial mixers, ovens, and bakery equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with batching, scaling, panning, baking, and cooling products
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient workstations
Inventory & Operations
- Assist with ingredient and supply inventory management
- Follow FIFO and proper storage procedures
- Communicate inventory needs accurately and promptly
- Maintain organization of freezer, cooler, and dry storage areas
Team & Standards
- Work collaboratively with bakers, decorators, leadership, and front of house staff
- Follow all gluten-free safety protocols without exception
- Support team production goals, especially during holidays and peak periods
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Some flexibility may be considered
- Occasional weekends required during holidays or special events
Compensation & Benefits
- $18–$20 per hour, based on experience

Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Exposure to extreme heat (ovens, production areas) and extreme cold (freezers, coolers)
- Repetitive motions including lifting, bending, reaching, and piping
Required Qualifications
- Several years of professional cake decorating experience
- Demonstrated ability to decorate efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail. This is non-negotiable
- Experience working with commercial bakery equipment
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable, especially during holidays
- Ability to follow systems, recipes, and established processes precisely
Reliability & Attendance Expectations
Consistent and predictable attendance is essential. Our team must be able to count on you every scheduled day, particularly during peak holiday periods. Reliability and attention to detail are critical to success in this role.
