Position Overview
Mitchell Katz Winery is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Compliance Manager / Tasting Room Associate to support both daily tasting room operations and winery compliance functions.
This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people while also managing behind-the-scenes administrative and regulatory tasks. You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring compliance records, filings, and processes are accurate and up to date.
Key ResponsibilitiesTasting Room Duties
- Greet guests and provide engaging wine tastings and product knowledge
- Process sales transactions using POS systems
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tasting room
- Assist with wine club pickups, events, and hospitality experiences
- Support additional daily operations as needed
Compliance & Administrative Duties (as needed)
- Assist with federal, state, and local alcohol compliance requirements
- Support TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) filings and recordkeeping
- Assist with California ABC licensing, renewals, and compliance tracking
- Support COLA (Certificate of Label Approval) submissions and documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory records (wine, cases, bottles) and reconciliation
- Track compliance deadlines and notify leadership of upcoming requirements
- Organize and maintain compliance files for audits, renewals, and inspections
- Assist with Limited Winegrower (LVW) reporting and documentation
- Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies as needed
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in hospitality, winery, or related field preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets, POS systems, and basic office software
- Ability to learn and apply regulatory and compliance requirements
- Experience with inventory tracking or reporting systems is a plus
- Professional discretion when handling sensitive business information
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
