Position Description:
The Sites and Infrastructure Specialist supports site and building development initiatives and site selection projects. The Specialist will work with developers in obtaining grants and/or loans to assist site and building development for industrial and transformative projects. This employee will also manage site selection projects, coordinating among multiple parties to submit properties for consideration for companies planning new facility locations. As a member of the OhioSE Sites Team, the Specialist is responsible for activities and tasks of varying size and complexity. These activities range from administration duties (maintenance of project documentation, proofreading, plans and reports), through quantitative analysis, and client and team interactions.
This position will serve on the OhioSE team, the regional partner for JobsOhio, Ohio’s private economic development leader.
Sites & Infrastructure Responsibilities:
· Manage submission of grant and loan requests for industrial site and building development projects through JobsOhio’s Ohio Site Inventory Program (OSIP).
· Manage JobsOhio's Vibrant Communities and Pre-Project Planning Program to help drive downtown revitalization by collaborating with developers and community partners to bring under-utilized properties back to life.
· Assist with project identification, development, and approvals.
· Coordinate among developers, OhioSE team, appropriate JobsOhio staff, and other partners for seeing projects through the sales, offer, approval, and servicing phases.
· Utilize SalesForce for developing and tracking projects.
· Maintain knowledge of OhioSE, JobsOhio, and ODOD program guidelines and philosophies.
· Coordinate or support the review of very quick turnaround Requests for Information (RFIs) from site selectors and companies. This will include review of site inventory records for accuracy, communicating with partners to ensure correct information is obtained and properly documented, and ensuring information about sites and buildings is consistent among site records, presentations, marketing materials, documentation used for submission for site selection projects, and any other documentation of site data.
· Document resources for completing future RFI’s.
· Lead coordination and execution of site visits as needed.
· Assist with documentation for regular reporting, such as quarterly reports and gap analysis. Assist with quantitative and qualitative analysis of site inventory and site search specifications.
· Assist with maintenance of organization’s shared files and ensure file sharing protocols are being followed.
· Assist with OhioSE Site Readiness Grant and Special Request Sites Grant as needed.
· Provide support for OhioSE and JobsOhio site-related programs and initiatives.
· Prepare maps, aerial photos, and other data using geographic mapping software as requested.
· Act with integrity and honesty in all dealings, actions and conversations.
Position Qualifications:
· Position posted externally and open to existing OhioSE employees.
· Three to five years of related professional experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, in regional planning, business, finance, engineering, economic development or related degree.
· Working knowledge of economic development is useful but not required.
· Project management experience preferred but not required.
· Must be organized and detail oriented with ability to be thorough and check for errors and discrepancies. Ability to be productive with tedious tasks.
· Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Solid English writing, grammar and proofreading skills required.
· Self-motivated and quick aptitude. Self‐starter with the ability to take a task and run with it with minimal supervision strongly preferred.
· Excellent English writing, grammar and proofreading skills required.
· Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Familiarity with SalesForce and GIS software would be a significant plus.
· Excellent time management skills; ability to deal with constantly changing work demands; proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously required.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion required.
· Ability to travel within Appalachian Ohio with occasional overnight stays required.
· Must have valid driver’s license.
