This position is responsible for assisting the Silver Roamers Coordinator with transportation for all trips, as well as programing for the active adult groups in Cherokee County. This position must have a CDL license with passenger endorsement, desire to work with seniors, and an outgoing personality. This position is a part-time 16-hour position which has a schedule that may fluctuate depending on trip days and times.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Holds a CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement and can safely operate a 28 passenger bus. Assists with loading and unloading seniors off the bus, storing their belongings or durable medical equipment and assuring it is safely secured on the bus. Stays present during all trips and assists seniors and the Silver Roamers Coordinator as needed. Obtain CPR and First Aid certification. Responsible for overseeing maintenance and cleanliness of the bus. Chaperones on trips as needed. Assist the Congregate Department or staff with bus transportation as needed. Answer phone calls or assist Silver Roamers Coordinator as needed. Set up and clean up in-house events as needed. May be asked to provide coverage in other programs as needed. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. Knowledge of First Aid/CPR/ AED. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the public and all other groups involved in the activities of Cherokee County government as they relate to Senior Services. Ability to work with limited supervision, using sound judgment in decision making. Knowledge of safety, laws, and requirements related to passenger bus operations. Flexible schedule and weekend availability. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and operate office equipment. Continuous sitting and upward and downward flexion of neck. Fine finger dexterity. Light to moderate finger pressure to manipulate keyboard, equipment controls, and office equipment. Pinch grasp to manipulate writing utensils. Frequent side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting at waist. Moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials. Occasional squatting, kneeling, and reaching above and at shoulder height. Moderate grasping to manipulate reference books and manuals. Lifting objects weighing 20-35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet. Verbally communicate to exchange information. 3 Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate equipment. Hearing: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities that would permit effective communication with or without correction.
