Full Time, Salaried Exempt | Baltimore, Maryland | Reports to the Director of Operations
Based at Mama’s on the Half Shell in Canton, with regular time at our Owings Mills location and wherever we grow next.
ABOUT US
Mama's Restaurant Group is a family owned Maryland seafood company. We started with Mama's on the Half Shell in Canton, added Owings Mills, and we plan to keep growing. Our food is Maryland coastal, our hospitality is the real thing, and our people tend to stay and move up.
We got here because of how we treat guests and staff. What we put out into the world should show that.
THE ROLE
The Marketing Director runs how Mama’s shows up: in the neighborhood, online, and in store. We have a marketing department with real systems behind it. Our channels are active, our platforms and tools are in place, and our brand standards are set. What we are looking for is someone to take the reins, keep the mission moving, and make all of it sharper.
Marketing at Mama’s starts before the guest walks in. The first email, the review response, the reply to a guest inquiry is how a lot of people meet us, and it should feel like being welcomed home at the host stand. If it reads like a big brand account, we have lost them before they sit down.
One thing we are firm about. Everything that goes out under our name has to be on brand. Our look, our voice, and our standards do not bend for a quick post or a rushed flyer. If it does not look and sound like Mama’s, it does not go out.
You will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with our GMs, our chefs, and our private events team. You will spend real time in the restaurants and at internal and off-site events for both locations.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Marketing Strategy and Systems
- Run and sharpen the marketing system we have so it brings in more guests and gets them back more often.
- Keep a 90 day calendar running across all locations, built ahead of the season instead of during it.
- Keep our processes documented and current so the work never lives in one person’s head.
Supporting Private Dining and Off Site Events
- Work alongside our private dining & events team. They own the inquiries, the follow up, and the vendor relationships. You make their phone ring and email inbox overflow.
- Drive demand through campaigns, content, paid ads, and outreach to planners, corporate accounts, and local organizations.
- Design private dining menus, packages, and printed materials, all held to our brand standards with approval from the DOP & Private Events Director
- Pitch in wherever the team needs you, including working off site events with them.
- Shoot photos and video at events and use it for marketing to book the next one.
Guest Acquisition and Paid Advertising
- Run Google and Meta campaigns that reach people who do not know us yet.
- Bring new guests into the dining rooms, fill slow shifts, push seasonal and menu features, and generate event inquiries.
- Handle targeting, budget, and creative testing. Test anything you want on the offer, but the look and the voice stay ours.
Guest Database, Email and Retention
- Grow the guest database we have built, and keep it clean, segmented, and working.
- Keep our email program running strong. It should invite guests back, tell our story, promote events, and make money.
- Give the guests a reason to come back that is not a discount.
Website Management
- Own our website. Keep the pages current, add what we need, and keep the whole thing running.
- Keep menus, hours, and location details accurate for both restaurants at all times. All of that runs through Marqii as well. For most guests the website is their first impression, and an old menu is a broken promise.
- Keep the private events section current, working with the private dining team on policies, packages, menus, pricing, and photos.
- Build landing pages for campaigns, promotions, private dining, and anything new we launch.
- Keep the site quick, easy to use on a phone, and true to the brand, and manage any hosting or web vendors.
- Handle basic SEO and report on traffic and conversions every month.
Social Media, Content and Reputation
- Own the content calendar and the daily posting for every location, with one consistent look and voice across all of it.
- Shoot and edit your own photos and videos in the restaurants with Mama’s provided technology (phone, camera, and laptop)
- Work with the management team on guest feedback in Marqii and keep our voice and response times consistent.
- Answer comments and messages the way you would greet someone standing in front of you. No copy and paste.
- Tell operations when reviews start showing a pattern.
Brand and Local Presence
- Guard the brand. One voice and one look across menus, signage, print, and digital, and it holds as we grow.
- Build community relationships, partnerships, and in house promotions before spending more on ads.
- Design our materials in house: menus, flyers, event collateral, signage.
- Keep our growth playbook ready so anything we open launches on brand from day one.
- Stay close to operations so what we promise matches what we serve.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an energetic, creative, and strategic individual to head our dynamic marketing structure and drive innovative campaigns that elevate brand presence across multiple channels. In this pivotal role, you will craft and execute comprehensive marketing strategies, harness cutting-edge digital tools, and analyze performance metrics to ensure maximum engagement and ROI. Your leadership will inspire creative excellence, optimize digital marketing efforts, and foster a data-driven culture focused on growth and brand loyalty.
- 3+ years in marketing, preferably restaurants, hospitality, or another business with more than one location.
- Social accounts you have run yourself, with content you made.
- Real experience in Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager: building audiences, managing budget, and reading the numbers.
- Strong Canva skills. You will design your own graphics, menus, flyers, and event materials, and they have to look like they came from us.
- Web design experience. Our website will be yours to build and maintain.
- Comfortable shooting and editing photos and video on a phone, and you write like a person.
- Organized enough to juggle several locations, a content calendar, and an ad budget.
- Available nights and weekends, and willing to be on site working events.
- Ability to stay organized & manage time, workload, and calendar
- Ability to communicate well and have a live presence with your staff members
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation between locations.
- Come up with creative ways to bring in more business & attract our clientele
Nice to Have
- Adobe Creative Suite.
- Event, catering, or group sales experience.
- Experience opening a new restaurant or retail location.
- Familiarity with POS reporting, reservation platforms, email and SMS tools, and Marqii.
- Baltimore roots and knowledge of this market.
Who Fits Here
- You would rather be in the dining room than in a meeting about the dining room.
- You take ownership without waiting for a process, and you do not mind being measured on results.
- You like restaurant people, and it shows in how you treat guests and staff.
- You treat the brand like it belongs to you, because while you are here it does.
HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED
We look at business results. Monthly reporting covers revenue and covers, average check, guest frequency, database growth, email performance, reservations, private dining & event leads, campaign revenue, and what we got back for what we spent.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
- Learn both restaurants from the inside, including shifts in the front and back of house.
- Take over the channels, ad accounts, website, and Marqii, and get on the same page with the private events team and the GMs.
- Give us your read on our brand assets, listings, and channel performance, and where you would sharpen them.
- Bring a 12 month marketing calendar on our biggest opportunities.
