Maintenance Planner – Hot Mill – Contract Support

We specialize in providing technical recruitment and staffing services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Information Technology, and a broad range of other Technical disciplines.
In support of our client, a leading aluminum manufacturer with facilities near Muscle Shoals, AL, we are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner for a short-term project assignment. This position will work closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Reliability, and Operations teams to ensure maintenance activities are properly planned, resourced, scheduled, and completed safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will have direct experience in scheduling preventative and predictive maintenance activities in a metals or manufacturing environment using SAP (or similar) and scheduling software, MS Project or other.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, plan, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to support safe and efficient plant operations.
- Create detailed job plans, work instructions, labor estimates, material requirements, and job packages that are ready for scheduling and execution.
- Coordinate daily with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Inventory, and Reliability teams to prioritize work and optimize maintenance schedules.
- Manage maintenance work orders and backlog by reviewing notifications, improving job plans, grouping related work, and ensuring all work is current and ready for execution.
- Forecast labor, contractor, and material requirements for routine maintenance and planned outages.
- Coordinate spare parts, repair materials, special tools, and procurement activities to ensure work can be completed efficiently.
- Maintain equipment history and documentation within the CMMS while supporting PM optimization, FMEA, reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Track maintenance progress, monitor schedule performance, participate in outage planning and lessons learned, and adjust priorities to meet changing production requirements.
- Support emergency maintenance activities and occasional work outside normal business hours when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field or five (5) years of comparable industrial maintenance planning experience.
- Experience planning maintenance in heavy manufacturing, metals, steel, aluminum, paper, chemical, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance planning, scheduling, and work order management.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while working collaboratively across departments.
- Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and maintenance best practices.
