Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; must be 18 years and older to work in the Heavy industry
- Must posses a valid Hawaii State Drivers License and be able to drive an automobile or pick-up truck
- Must be able to work NIGHT SHIFT, overtime and on weekends as required
- Requires Saturday work
- Must be mechanically inclined
- 1 year of previous experience
- Must become a member of the ILWU Local 142
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate skid steer loader and other manual equipment necessary to maintain a safe and clean work environment around crushing, maintenance and batch plant equipment
- May assist mechanics and other personnel with minor repairs as required
- Responsible for basic crusher/conveyor maintenance and servicing
- Requires changing conveyor belting, idlers, rollers, skirt board, screens and all other wear parts requiring frequent repair or replacement
- Checks mechanical condition of equipment as required
- Assists mechanics on emergency and minor repairs
- Reports unsafe conditions and mechanical defects on equipment
- Performs pre- and post- operational checks such as oil, water, and fuel levels, checks all lights and braking system, and tires
- Responsible for cleanliness and proper appearance of equipment and makes minor repairs when necessary
- Performs repair and replacement maintenance on all wear parts
- Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
- Must always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, process, and behaviors
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Works in varying environments, from air-conditioned offices to hot, dusty, muddy field conditions
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, and withstand heights
- Must be able to lift and carry materials weighting up to 60 pounds
