Surgical Assistant – Liberty Oral & Facial Surgery

Are you an energetic, dependable, and compassionate person who enjoys helping others and working as part of a close-knit team? Liberty Oral & Facial Surgery is looking for a motivated Surgical Assistant to join our growing, fast-paced oral surgery practice!
Our surgical assistants play an important role in creating a positive experience for our patients while working closely with our oral surgeons and surgical team to provide exceptional care.
Position Summary:
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures and patient care
- Prepare treatment rooms and surgical instruments for procedures
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and post-operative care
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe surgical environment
- Properly sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
- Take and document patient vital signs and medical histories
- Provide patients and their families with pre- and post-operative instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Follow infection control, OSHA, and office safety protocols
- Follow AAAHC standards and practice guidelines as part of our AAAHC-accredited organization. Our standards and processes are continuously reviewed and may evolve as requirements and best practices are updated, so team members must be willing to stay current and adapt to changes.
- Work closely with the entire surgical team to ensure efficient patient flow
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain compliance with our practice policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
- Travel between our two office locations: Spokane Valley, WA, and Post Falls, ID (dependent on the day of the week and what office or doctor is working at)
- Help create a welcoming, reassuring experience for patients who may be nervous or anxious
Qualifications/Credentials Preferred:
- Existing credentials such as a registered dental assistant, certified dental anesthesia assistant, or surgical technician are preferred, but not required
- A well-developed comprehension of current dental and sterilization techniques is desirable
- Within the first 12-18 months the right candidate will be expected to become certified in ACLS, PALS, DAANCE, and a certified BLS instructor, if not already
Education required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS Provider
- Graduate of a Dental Assistant Program or previous dental or medical experience is preferred
