Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Med Aide to join our healthcare team, providing vital support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. As a Med Aide, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring the comfort and safety of our residents. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration in medical records
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any abnormalities promptly
- Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or memory impairments
- Support tube feeding procedures, catheter care, and other medical treatments under supervision
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Follow all HIPAA regulations and state healthcare guidelines to protect patient confidentiality and ensure legal compliance
- Assist with transfers and manual handling tasks safely to prevent injury for both residents and staff
- Recognize signs of distress or deterioration in patients with developmental disabilities or those receiving hospice or palliative care
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support (CPR) certification required
- Experience working with geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities or memory care needs is advantageous
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks involving physical strength and endurance
- Valid certification from the State Board of Nursing or equivalent licensing body as a Med Aide or Nursing Assistant is required
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities and attention to detail
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws to ensure compliance at all times
