The Role
We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and energetic personal assistant to support Jamel Randall across many parts of their professional life. As Jamel's right hand, you will help keep things organized, focused, and moving forward every single day. No two days will look the same. One moment you might be taking notes in a meeting, the next you could be greeting guests at the front desk or capturing video content at a live event. Responsibilities
Meeting Notes & Follow-Ups: Attend meetings alongside Jamel, take clear and accurate notes, track action items, and follow up to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Front Desk & Studio Support: Work the front desk at the studio, welcome clients and guests, answer questions, manage check-ins, and keep the space running smoothly and warmly.
Event Support: Attend events with Jamel to help with setup, coordination, and on-site needs. You will be a steady, professional presence who keeps everything on track.
Sales & Merchandise: Sell books, products, and merchandise at events, classes, and pop-ups. Track inventory, handle transactions, and connect with customers in a friendly, genuine way.
Video & Content Capture: Record video and photo content at events, classes, and behind-the-scenes moments to fuel social media and marketing. A good eye for capturing real, engaging moments is a big plus.
Social Media Support: Help manage Jamel's social media presence by capturing content, scheduling posts, and keeping the online community engaged and active.
Website Updates: Update and maintain the website. This includes adding new content, making design tweaks, keeping all information current, and ensuring a smooth user experience.
Flier Creation: Design eye-catching fliers to promote books, events, and speaking engagements. You will create clean layouts, choose strong images, and present key details in a compelling way.
Business Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with bookstores, venues, media outlets, and partners. You will coordinate book signings, speaking engagements, interviews, and collaborations.
Scheduling & Calendar Management: Manage Jamel's calendar, coordinate appointments, meetings, and deadlines, and stay ahead of any conflicts or changes.
General Administrative Tasks: Handle emails, organize files, manage correspondence, and take on other day-to-day duties that keep everything running smoothly.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a personal assistant or in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to juggle many tasks at once.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable taking accurate notes and managing follow-ups.
- Friendly, professional presence for front desk and event work.
- Confidence with sales and customer interactions.
- Ability to capture engaging video and photo content (basic editing skills are a bonus).
- Proficiency with website updates and basic graphic design tools.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content scheduling tools.
- A proactive, resourceful mindset with the ability to solve problems independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to events and work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
