JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach
DEPARTMENT : Athletics
REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide leadership in the planning, organizing and coaching of the Dordt University golf program. The head coach supports the distinct mission of Dordt University and creates an environment in which student-athletes grow and develop through this experience to become insightful, obedient, and active servants in God’s world. The coach leads in ways that enhance Dordt’s reputation and brand with all audiences and furthers Dordt’s mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to establish an annual set of performance goals (ACD Plan) for the golf program which will include objectives for the spiritual development of each player, enhancing leadership abilities within the program, emphasizing academic excellence, brand identity of the program both on and off-campus, and tiered expectations for wins/losses.
Implement Defender Way initiatives into the golf program.
Develop a comprehensive golf program:
Plans trip, prepare itineraries and coordinate with professors for all road trips.
Schedule meets, practices, and recruiting trips that bring the golf program forward.
Engage in fundraising strategies with the Advancement Office.
Implement golf camps with the dual intention of increasing institutional enrollment and identifying potential golf prospects.
Lead and supervise assistant coaches.
Work closely with the Director of Athletics to ensure compliance with the university, GPAC Conference, and NAIA policies and regulations.
Work closely with the Sports Information Director to provide communication about the program to necessary audiences.
Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters.
Provide a meaningful experience for the student-athletes that parallels their greater Dordt University experience.
Engage the golf alumni to generate further support for the program.
Effectively utilize social media to market and promote the golf program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
A Clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church and hold to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

Understanding and commitment to the mission of Dordt University.
A Master's Degree is preferred.
Pertinent prior experience preferred.
Visionary leadership skills necessary to continually strengthen golf program athletically, academically, spiritually, and through the service mission of Dordt University.
Skills necessary for budgeting, handling expenses, and analyzing statistical information.
Strong verbal and written communication skills which create excitement and clarity to audiences.
Influencing skills necessary for recruiting students who desire to participate in the golf program at Dordt University.
Planning and organizational skills necessary for program oversight.
Administrative skills necessary for administering and monitoring a budget.
Working knowledge of coaching techniques and a willingness to grow, change, and develop new techniques as necessary.
