Duties and responsibilities:
As an Individual Counselor, you will:
- Meet with clients to discuss treatment goals, trauma, mental health, substance use, and behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with clients, their support systems, legal referents, community resources, and our multidisciplinary team to create personalized treatment plans.
- Manage a caseload of 8-12 clients, with individual sessions held at least once per week.
- Facilitate 3-4 group therapy sessions per week.
- Participate in recreational activities with clients, including day trips outside the agency in the Capital District.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).
Program Description: Hospitality House is an intensive residential treatment program for substance use disorder licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports. We are dedicated to the goal of reducing the negative impacts of addiction through personal growth and change. The program serves men over the age of 18, and is predicated on evidence-based treatment. Hospitality House is currently inviting applications for a full-time Counselor position. Hospitality House is a 45-bed program and treatment is voluntary.
Minimum qualifications: Potential candidates must have a Master-level degree with New York State licensure in social work, mental health. Candidates without licensure must be eligible to obtain licensure within one year of employment or obtain a limited permit. Experience in substance abuse field is preferred. Candidates must display strong writing and verbal skills and be prepared to submit a comprehensive writing sample.
Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders would be ideal but not required.

Pay: $59,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
