Job Summary
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects involving commercial doors and hardware. This role involves analyzing project specifications, collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring that all estimates align with company standards and client requirements. Reporting directly to the Project Services Manager, the Estimator plays a crucial role in securing new business and maintaining profitability.
Duties/Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects based on specifications, drawings, and other documentation.
- Analyze project requirements and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Review and validate estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Work closely with the Sales to develop project budgets and timelines.
- Ensure that all estimates comply with company standards and client requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and address any concerns.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and project documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience in the door, frame, and hardware (DFH) / openings industry required
- Hands-on experience with estimating, detailing, submittals, or coordination for commercial door and hardware projects
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specification documents
- Working knowledge of construction materials, processes, and DFH applications
- Strong attention to detail with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with estimating tools/software (experience with Comsense a plus)
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive client and company information with confidentiality
Preferred (Not Required)
- Bachelor’s or technical degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- DHI certifications

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
