Duties
- Perform clothing alterations, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and adjusting bodices to match design specifications
- Sew garments using sewing machines and hand sewing techniques to achieve precise stitching and seamless finishes
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp, professional presentation
- Construct new garments from scratch based on custom designs, ensuring high-quality garment construction standards
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace with proper handling of fabric materials and sewing tools
Qualifications
- Proven experience in clothing alterations with a focus on bridal or formal wear
- Strong skills in garment sewing, stitching, hand sewing, and garment construction techniques
- Knowledge of fabric materials commonly used in wedding gowns such as lace, satin, tulle, and silk
- Ability to operate pressing machines and sewing machines efficiently and safely
- Familiarity with women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production is a plus
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and pattern adjustments
- Experience working with various fabric materials and understanding their behavior during sewing and pressing processes
