Step into a rewarding contract position as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist supporting K-12 students with diverse needs. Based near Methuen, MA, this on-site opportunity allows you to make a genuine impact by empowering students to achieve independence and navigate their environments with confidence. The assignment runs from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027, with consistent full-time hours from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm, totaling 32.5 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) License required
- Previous experience working with K-12 student populations across a variety of ages and abilities
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans in coordination with IEP teams
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to providing hands-on, student-centered services in an educational environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct orientation and mobility instruction to students, tailoring approaches to meet individual goals
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine students’ needs and recommend appropriate interventions or equipment
- Collaborate closely with educators, therapists, and support staff to integrate mobility strategies within classroom and school routines
- Document progress, participate in team meetings, and contribute expertise to IEP planning and updates
- Provide guidance and resources to families and educators to foster inclusive, supportive surroundings
