Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Parent/Tot Preschool Teacher to join our team. This individual guides interactive, dual-focus classes for toddlers that are 2 years of age by September 1, 2026 and their parents or caregivers, emphasizing bonding, early socialization, and child development. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a classroom setting.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following to qualify:
- Bachelor Degree or higher in early childhood education or related field
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Valid Child Development Associate credential
Candidates must:
- have the ability to interact successfully with children, staff, and parents.
- have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- preferably have preschool experience or early childhood coursework or training.
- have an understanding of child development.
- have the ability to have the NEW Michigan Child Care Background Check and fingerprints done and meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprints and SOARS clearance).
- have a demonstrated record of good attendance, punctuality, strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
Job Duties:
- Facilitate Activities: Lead joint sensory, music, art, and motor skill sessions for both adults and toddlers.
- Coach Parents: Model positive redirection, age-appropriate expectations, and early learning strategies for caregivers.
- Prepare Environment: Set up safe, clean, and engaging developmental stations prior to class.
- Build Community: Foster a welcoming, supportive group dynamic where parents can share experiences and support one another
Key Physical Functions:
- Floor Work: Sit, kneel, and squat frequently at child eye level
- Lifting: Lift and carry toddlers up to 40 pounds safely
- Mobility: Move rapidly from sitting to standing to ensure child safety
- Stamina: Maintain high energy during continuous physical play and demonstrations
- Manual Dexterity: Manipulate art supplies, musical instruments, and small learning toys
- Visual/Auditory Awareness: Monitor multiple parent-child pairs simultaneously for safety
