ReStore Lead Associate
Job Summary
The ReStore Lead Associate supports the daily operations of the Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County ReStore by providing outstanding customer service and ensuring the front of the store operates efficiently. This full-time position is primarily responsible for running the cash register, assisting customers and donors, processing daily bank deposits, maintaining the appearance of the sales floor and front entrance, and supporting the ReStore Manager with day-to-day store operations. The Lead Associate plays an important role in creating a welcoming shopping experience while supporting Habitat's mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers and donors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Answer questions, provide information about merchandise, and help create a positive shopping experience.
- Assist customers with loading purchases when needed.
Sales and Cash Handling
- Operate the cash register and process transactions accurately.
- Balance the cash drawer and follow established cash-handling procedures.
- Prepare and complete daily bank deposits.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
Store Operations
- Help ensure the sales floor, checkout area, lobby, front entrance, and outdoor sales displays remain clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Restock merchandise and maintain attractive displays throughout the store.
- Monitor inventory on the sales floor and communicate restocking needs to the ReStore Manager.
- Report maintenance, safety, or customer concerns to the ReStore Manager.
Store Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, organizing merchandise, and maintaining a clean shopping environment.
- Help keep aisles safe, clear, and free of hazards.
Heavy Lifting and Material Handling
- Assist with moving furniture, appliances, building materials, and other merchandise as needed.
- Safely use pallet jacks, dollies, and other equipment as trained.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment for customers, volunteers, and staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous retail, customer service, cashier, or cash-handling experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the day.
- Valid driver's license preferred.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Regular schedule: Tuesday through Saturday.
- Occasional evening hours or special events may be required.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working both indoors and outdoors throughout the workday.
