Job Summary
This paralegal will assist attorneys with a wide range of legal support as they prepare for trials, hearings, and appointments, and help manage collection and other civil cases.
Responsibilities
- Screen prospective clients and schedule appointments for attorneys
- Review client facts for accuracy and request information as needed; perform public record searches
- Prepare drafts of court filings including complaints, liens, discovery, garnishments, subpoenas, affidavits, notices, etc.
- Prepare correspondence to clients and debtors
- Maintain calendar for action dates on all open files.
- Assist attorney in preparation of trials and preparing exhibits
- Maintain payment plans with debtors; track disbursements to clients and maintain escrow account
- Keep files organized and manage high volume caseload
- Provide phone and general clerical support as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies; or
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies plus minimum 2 years’ experience; or
- Paralegal Certificate plus minimum 3 years’ experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks or similar program
- Must work on-site in Manassas
Salary and Benefits
We do not offer health insurance, but we will pay for your direct primary care membership if desired. We match up to 3% of your salary for your retirement account, and you have 15 days of vacation, plus 9 federal holidays, plus 5 sick days, and 3 personal days annually. Salary range is $50,000 - $65,000 annually depending on your level of experience.
