Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and age-related conditions. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote personal hygiene and comfort.
- Support medication administration and monitor vital signs to ensure health stability.
- Provide assistance with mobility, manual handling, and safe patient lifting practices to prevent injury.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities, behavioral management strategies, and social interactions to enhance their quality of life.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary guidelines and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and resident rooms.
- Drive residents safely using standard passenger cars for appointments or community outings while adhering to all traffic laws.
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care, dementia care, and geriatrics is essential.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training will be provided if needed.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive disabilities is a strong plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while maintaining resident dignity and comfort.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Valid driver’s license with experience operating a standard passenger car for community outings or appointments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in home & community care settings.
