RN Emergency Room PT
Summary: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care and needs of each patient (neonate through geriatric).

Complete comprehensive nursing assessment on each patient under care and document appropriately.

Administer medications or delegate medication administration to LPN

Perform or delegate nursing interventions and provide for safe and effective nursing care.

Advocate for patients and evaluate response to intervention and effectiveness of plan of care.

Provide health education to patients and families/caregivers and administer blood products
-
Supervise LPNs and ER Techs to assure competent patient care provided.

Supervise ER Technicians
-
Provide care for trauma patients of all ages

Serve as house supervisor when necessary including weekends, holidays, and night shift

Be familiar with EMS system

Communicate using 2 way radio with 911, ambulance service and First Responders

Assess acuity level of patient presenting for ER and prioritize who to be seen first, second etc.

Periodically reassess patients for condition changes until seen in ER
-
Perform call-back of patients seen in ER to check on condition following treatment per policy.

Pass competency and proficiency testing as required by department or hospital
-
Keep current with professional license, certifications and literature review
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Must have ACLS and PALS
-
2 years experience working as RN
-
Critical Care or ER experience preferred
Shifts: Varied, 7p-7a and 7a-7p, 3 week rotation - 5 shifts
