Job Summary
Join a staff of creative, welcoming early childhood educators as a teacher assistant in a mixed-age classroom of 3- and 4-year-olds.
Our program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, so the successful applicant to this job must be committed to the idea that children learn best through play, be familiar with or willing and eager to learn how to implement an emergent curriculum that follows the lead of the children, and able to engage young children in a warm, joyful, and nurturing manner. The assistant’s responsibilities include supporting a lead teacher and assistant teacher in managing classroom activities, preparing the classroom, bathroom breaks and toileting needs, snack time, and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate for this position is creative (a background in art would be a plus). Experience working with preschoolers and a commitment to positive discipline are required. The candidate must be flexible, diplomatic, and receptive to direction and feedback. This is a part-time, paid, hourly position, 20 hours per week, starting in late August 2026. The successful applicant to this position should hold at least a child development associate’s degree, although current undergraduate or graduate students in early childhood education or a related field are encouraged to apply.
