POSITION SUMMARY
The YMCA of the East Valley is committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Wellness Coach is responsible for supporting YMCA operations through effective delivery of programs, services, and member engagement. This position contributes to the achievement of Association goals by promoting the YMCA mission, values, and strategic priorities while providing high-quality service to members, participants, staff, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Core Responsibilities

Perform duties in alignment with YMCA mission, policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Deliver high-quality customer/member service to participants, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.

Support departmental and Association goals through effective communication, teamwork, and accountability.

Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required.

Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and required professional development activities.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
-
Support risk management and safety procedures.
-
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support operational needs.

Perform all other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Responsibilities
-
Maintains a safe and clean Wellness Center environment by engaging members, enforcing policies, and positively reacting to any situations that arise.

Conducts member orientations and equipment introductions.
-
Monitors wellness floor activities and enforces wellness center policies.
-
Performs routine cleaning and sanitation of fitness equipment and wellness areas.
-
Provides basic exercise guidance within YMCA scope of practice.
-
Promotes YMCA wellness programs, group exercise classes, and personal training services.
-
Completes wellness floor rounds and equipment inspections.
-
Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

Introduce new members to group exercise communities based their health and well-being goals.
-
Utilizes tools and information for the purpose of increasing member knowledge of wellness as well as wellness programs provided through the YMCA (handouts, schedules, etc.).

Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures.

Respond to emergency situations following the appropriate Emergency Action Plan.

Attends all staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Nationally recognized fitness certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, etc.)

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Experience working with diverse populations and older adults

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees assigned driving responsibilities must:

Possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License.

Use reliable transportation for Association business.
