Payroll Specialist/Assistant Bookkeeper

About the Role
Mason Industries is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist/Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team. This position is responsible for processing weekly payroll accurately and on time, maintaining confidential employee and payroll information, and providing support for day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment where accuracy, communication, and attention to detail are valued.
Responsibilities
· Manage weekly payroll processing from start to finish, including time and attendance review, employee changes, payroll discrepancies, record maintenance, reporting, and year-end payroll activities.
· Respond to employee payroll inquiries and research and resolve payroll-related issues accurately and professionally.
· Support day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions, including financial transaction processing, accounts payable/receivable activities, account reconciliations, and maintenance of supporting documentation.
· Prepare and maintain payroll, bookkeeping, and financial reports and documentation to support Finance Department operations, audits, and month-end activities.
Qualifications
· 2+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
· Proficiency with PayPro Workforce (or comparable HCM software) and TLM Time & Attendance (or similar time-tracking systems).
· Strong mathematical aptitude and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and a proven track record of meeting strict deadlines while handling highly confidential data.
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior experience processing payroll within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
· Familiarity with payroll compliance, year-end processing, and supporting external audits.
· Strong customer service skills to support all internal employee tiers, combined with a continuous improvement mindset.
