Work Location: Carrollton, TX
Salary: Competitive, based on years of relevant experience
Certification Required: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Sterile Technique: Create and maintain a sterile field, adhering to sterile technique principles, and monitor/correct any breaks in technique.
Instrument and Equipment Management: Select appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment based on the procedure, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, and provide them during the procedure.
Surgical Support: Perform sponge, sharp, and instrument counts in line with hospital policies, and take corrective action if counts are incorrect.
Communication: Establish and maintain open communication with surgeons, physicians’ assistants, and other healthcare team members.
Specimen Handling: Properly identify, handle, and label cultures and specimens.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and report any malfunctioning instruments or equipment.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records and assist with the Quality Assurance program for the Surgical Services Department.
Training & Mentorship: Assist with the training of new surgical staff members.
Label drugs/solutions and track usage during procedures, reporting to the RN circulator at the end of the case.
Notify RN Circulating Nurse or Charge Nurse of any critical information received from the physician or patient.
Assist with departmental quality assurance initiatives related to surgical services.
Certification Required: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
Experience: Previous surgical technologist experience is preferred but not required.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
