Director of Nursing (DON)
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all nursing operations within our facility. The DON is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional resident-centered care while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with proven experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospice, or acute care environments. This individual will possess excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to quality outcomes, staff development, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities, Clinical Leadership & Operations
- Direct, supervise, and coordinate all nursing services within the facility to ensure the highest standards of resident care.
- Oversee daily nursing operations, staffing coordination, clinical workflows, and patient care delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, CMS, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility regulations and policies.
- Maintain survey readiness and lead the facility through state inspections and audits.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care planning.
Staff Management & Development
- Recruit, mentor, train, and evaluate nursing personnel, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Promote a positive and professional work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and resident-centered care.
- Conduct performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, coaching, and ongoing staff education.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet resident needs and regulatory requirements.
- Support employee retention initiatives and professional development opportunities.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices are maintained throughout the facility.
- Lead Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Review incidents, medication errors, falls, and clinical trends to implement corrective action plans.
- Maintain current knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, reimbursement guidelines, and long-term care regulations.
Resident & Family Relations
- Serve as a clinical resource and advocate for residents and families.
- Address resident and family concerns professionally and compassionately.
- Promote a culture of dignity, respect, safety, and quality of life for all residents.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospice, or acute care settings preferred.
- Prior experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or Nurse Manager strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of CMS regulations, survey processes, HIPAA compliance, and clinical documentation standards.
- Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and healthcare documentation practices.
- CPR certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
