Gateway Pediatrics is a busy, family-centered pediatric practice seeking a compassionate full-time LPN or Medical Assistant to join our care team.
Assists providers in examining and treating pediatric patients. Under direct supervision, handles both administrative and clinical duties while maintaining efficient patient flow.
Clinical Responsibilities
Patient care includes vitals, assessments, procedures, injections, and medication administration. Other duties include:
- Update necessary patient records as required by provider
- Assures appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment and procedures
- Conducts patient assessments and obtain pertinent medical information
- Prepares and stocks exam rooms and maintains / controls drug samples
- Assist providers with exams and procedures
- Performs lab procedures and processing of lab specimens and results
- Performs vaccinations, per training and experience, as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precaution
- Maintain all exam room disinfection protocols
Administrative Responsibilities
- Triage incoming patient telephone calls
- Telephones in prescription and makes other patient calls as required or directed by providers
- Schedule patient tests, procedures, hospital admissions, and provide follow-up for receipt of test results
- Arrange for pre-authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals
- Assist in patient appointment scheduling, rescheduling or reminders
- Obtains new patient records, including newborns, and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
- Maintains a clean work environment and restock the supply area
Additional Skills and Abilities
- Solid knowledge of pediatric medical practices, examination procedures, and patient care
- Proficient in the use of medical equipment and instruments
- Understanding of common safety hazards and standard precautions to maintain a safe environment
- Able to assist with a variety of treatments and administer medications as directed
- Skilled in obtaining vital signs, maintaining accurate records, and thorough documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of one year experience in a fast-paced office/clinic setting (preferred).
Up-to-date State of Maryland (or compact State) License for LPN (if applicable).
Experience in Pediatrics (preferred).
Bilingual a plus.
This is a full-time role requiring consistent Monday-Friday availability, including some evening hours. Variable or part-time availability (e.g. due to school schedules) cannot be accommodated.
Compensation (based on pediatric experience)
Medical Assistant - $17.00-20.00/hr
Licensed Practical Nurse - $20.00-27.00/hr
