Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Teacher/Floater to join our vibrant educational team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers by assisting with instructional activities, supervising children, and ensuring a positive learning environment. As a floater, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple classrooms, providing flexible support where needed to promote student success and classroom harmony. Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with implementing curriculum plans focused on literacy, math, and early childhood education standards.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement.
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and applying behavior management strategies consistent with educational policies.
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson delivery, student assessments, and individualized support for children with disabilities or special needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, behavior, and classroom events to foster strong home-school connections.
- Maintain classroom organization, including preparing materials, proofreading instructional resources, and ensuring compliance with educational regulations such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
- Use educational technologies and computers effectively to enhance learning experiences for young children.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by applying first aid and CPR procedures when necessary.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, special education strategies, and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and students.
- Ability to supervise children safely while maintaining a nurturing environment.
- Familiarity with classroom behavior management tools and techniques.
- Understanding of educational compliance standards and regulation requirements such as ESSA.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or autism is a plus.
- Proficiency in using computers and educational technologies for instructional support.
- Valid first aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Demonstrated commitment to early childhood education principles and best practices in private school settings or similar environments.
