Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for engineering tasks involved in the product design and development of mounting solutions supporting medical instrumentation and IT systems. The Principal Engineer, OEM Products, is resourceful and collaborative in a cross-functional team environment and assists the global manufacturing team to resolve manufacturing issues of complex products. Supports the commercial team in cultivating OEM business opportunities and relationships. Conferences with other engineers and cross-functional team members to implement operating procedures, resolve design and development issues and provide technical expertise. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of new product development related to assigned projects, including performing static and dynamic FEA simulation on various levels (i.e. assembly systems, sub-systems and components), developing test protocols, and creating engineering documentation.
The Principal Engineer, OEM Products, must be able to analyze and process customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, implementation and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Considered a company leader in design and development of new product development activities for OEM customers. Works closely with marketing, sales, and customers defining product concepts and requirements.
Will work with OEM commercial team to engage with customers, provide rapid feedback to customer requests for design concepts, and high-level product costs and project timelines to aid in quoting process.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conceptualize, Develop, Verify and Validate product designs and engineering solutions to meet defined OEM customer user needs.

Partner with OEM commercial leadership to target priority customer opportunities and build relationships.

Collaborate closely with the OEM team to pitch new business, while leading technical discussions and serving as a lead technical advisor on key strategic opportunities.

Lead cross functional team or work with PMO, depending on size and scope of the project, to develop project plans and assist with design input definition. Assist in preparing project timelines and ensuring projects are kept within scope, time and cost. Keep internal and external customers informed of project status.

Collaborate with external customers and commercial team developing requirements and presenting solution proposals.

Maintain interaction with other departments to solicit and distribute information.

Recommend and participate in functional training to advance technical capabilities and stay current with manufacturing and engineering methods.

Lead and mentor junior engineers, including in large OEM projects, for overall project success.

Provide technical problem-solving expertise to diverse functions including marketing, sales, manufacturing, quality, and customer support.

Address Customer Feedback / Complaints and Corrective Actions where needed.

Engage in cost reduction efforts.

Requirements:

BS/MS Mechanical Engineering
-
15 + years’ product development and design transfer experience.

Project management skills allowing individual to be engaged on multiple projects.

Strong mechanical aptitude and experience.

Ability to perform complex FEA analysis.

Proficient in Injection molding, extrusion, sheet metal, and casting design.

Proficient in Creo, SolidWorks, and Windchill PDM system.

Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Office, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) software.

Familiarity with design for healthcare environments (ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1) a major plus.
