BMMA, Inc. (Black Mamas Matter Alliance) is a national Black women-led, cross-sectoral, multidisciplinary alliance. We center Black Mamas to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black Maternal Health, Rights, and Justice. We envision a world where Black Mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy. BMMA was created out of a need to form a national voice and coordinating entity that can hold space and serve as a platform for Black women-led initiatives that are working to address the issues that impact maternal health disparities and inequities using the birth and reproductive justice, and human rights framework. BMMA provides technical assistance, training, and capacity building for grassroots organizations, maternity care service providers (e.g., clinicians, midwives, doula networks, and community health workers), academia, and the public health sector. We recognize that maternal mortality and morbidity is a global concern, and frame domestic maternal health policy and research within the global Black Feminist context.
BMMA, Inc. seeks a Development Specialist (Contractor) to serve as the operational and analytical backbone of the Development Unit. Reporting to the Director of Strategy, this role owns the integrity, workflow, and strategic use of BMMA's revenue and donor data across platforms and campaigns. The Development Specialist (Contractor) is responsible for the end-to-end management of donation and revenue data in Salesforce, the design and delivery of reports and dashboards that drive fundraising decisions, and the development of donor segmentation and prospect insights that support individual giving, sponsorships, and major gift cultivation. This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented, self-directed professional who understands the operational discipline behind successful fundraising and who can translate complex data into clear, usable insights for a small but active development team. Over the course of the initial four-month contract, the role is expected to establish and maintain the data workflows and reporting cadences that support BMMA's fundraising strategy heading into 2027.
This position is scoped with a long-range view of BMMA's development operations. The immediate priority is to establish and maintain the data and reporting infrastructure described below. Over time, as the function stabilizes, the role is expected to expand into deeper prospect research, donor cultivation support, and revenue strategy analysis. Candidates with experience or interest in prospect research and donor cultivation are strongly encouraged to apply.
