Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Paint & Body Technician with a strong background in classic car restoration. This position requires an individual who is highly skilled in bodywork, panel alignment, surface preparation, and paint refinishing. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of producing high-quality work while meeting project deadlines.
Experience working on classic vehicles is REQUIRED.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality bodywork on classic and vintage vehicles
- Repair rust, dents, and damaged panels using proper metal finishing techniques
- Replace, fit, and align body panels, doors, hoods, fenders, and trim for proper gaps and fitment
- Block sand, prime, and prepare vehicles for paint to show-quality standards
- Perform masking, sealing, painting, color sanding, and buffing when required
- Identify imperfections and ensure surfaces are properly prepared before paint application
- Work closely with fabrication, mechanical, and assembly departments throughout the restoration process
- Maintain exceptional quality control throughout every phase of the project
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Complete projects efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship
Qualifications
- Proven experience restoring and refinishing classic vehicles (REQUIRED)
- Strong knowledge of body repair, panel alignment, filler work, primer application, and paint preparation
- Experience with block sanding, guide coats, feather edging, and surface finishing
- Ability to perform high-quality paint work, including basecoat/clearcoat systems, is preferred
- Experience with color sanding and polishing to show-quality finishes
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced restoration environment with production deadlines
- Must provide your own professional-grade tools
- Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and accountable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred Experience
- Classic car restoration
- Custom vehicles and restomod builds
- Metal finishing and minor fabrication
- Fiberglass repair and panel fitting
- Show-quality paint finishing
- Experience using modern paint systems such as PPG, BASF, Axalta, or Glasurit
