Purpose
This position is responsible for the daily production and overall performance of the Specialty Testing Team, as well as Specialty Testing samples from all other POLARIS facilities. This includes directing and monitoring quality and safety activities to ensure compliance with ISO 17025, the POLARIS Quality System and all required safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline, chemistry preferred

Prior supervisor experience

Experience operating in a laboratory environment

Demonstrated leadership skills

Demonstrated ability to manage staff

Ability to understand and adhere to safety procedures

Essential Functions

Administer disciplinary actions - record and deliver disciplinary actions as needed

Inspect, maintain and repair laboratory equipment

Manage inventory of consumable materials

Manage and review production reports

Manage end of shift, end of month, and safety checklists

Manage and review QC documentation

Manage hazardous waste/used oil pick up as needed

Monitor quality of test results

Observe and read instrumentation to determine operating conditions during testing

Plan schedules and work flow

Responsible for turnaround time, outsourcing and reporting at daily communication meeting

Review daily production report and status

Routine review of testing performed

Routine review of documents generated in laboratory

Routine review of maintenance records of equipment

Limited lab equipment maintenance and repair to ensure proper equipment function

Supervise lab employees and facilitate production

Safety Requirements

OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. At POLARIS Laboratories, when going through the Laboratory it is required that you wear eye protection.

Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. POLARIS Laboratories provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

To ensure safety throughout the facility, all employees are required to maintain up to date HAZMAT, OSHA, RCRA, Methylene Chloride, and General Laboratory Safety training as defined within the POLARIS Quality System.
