We are seeking retired teachers for our Lil Chefs program! This vibrant role offers the opportunity to inspire young children through engaging culinary arts. As a Summer Academy Teacher, you will create a fun, safe, and educational environment where children can explore their creativity, develop new skills, and build confidence. Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans focused on culinary arts, arts education, dance, theater, and creative expression
- Lead hands-on cooking activities that teach basic culinary skills while emphasizing safety and hygiene standards
- Incorporate visual arts, performing arts, choreography, and theater into daily activities to foster creativity and self-expression
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a positive learning environment for all children
- Support children’s social-emotional development through engaging activities and personalized attention
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to coordinate interdisciplinary projects and special events
- Maintain a safe space by supervising children during all activities and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Requirements
- Prior experience teaching youth programs or working with children in early childhood or preschool settings
- Strong background in arts education, including teaching visual & performing arts, dance (ballet or other styles), theater, or music
- Culinary experience or specialization in cooking classes for children is highly desirable
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Ability to develop creative curricula that integrate arts, movement, cooking, and childhood development principles
- Excellent communication skills to engage young learners and collaborate with team members
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of children with varying needs, including those requiring special education accommodations
- Passion for fostering creativity through lessons involving photography, sewing, choreography, or other artistic disciplines
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on group dynamics and individual needs
