Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across long-distance OTR routes, ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods
- Safely load and unload freight, including logistics cargo handling for various types of cargo such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, or tanker liquids
- Utilize GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor progress, and adapt to traffic or road conditions for efficient delivery schedules
- Transport automobile transportation units and other specialized freight with precision and care
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with FMCSA standards
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in accordance with DOT regulations
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers such as flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers
- Demonstrated ability to handle hazardous materials (Hazmat) and comply with hazardous materials regulations when required
- Prior delivery driver experience involving route driving, load & unload procedures, and freight handling
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time tracking during trips
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards for commercial trucking
- Experience managing manual handling tasks related to truck loading/unloading and cargo securing techniques
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type operated, with endorsements as needed for Hazmat or tanker loads
