POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Per Diem Shift Supervisor is responsible for the management of the Glenmore residence on their particular shift which includes the orientation, training and supervision of security staff; completing intakes and reporting incidents to DHS; assuring adherence to the Sanctuary Commitments in dealing with residents and behavioral issues; assisting with compliance with DHS, NYFD, and HPD regulations, and working with facilities manager to ensure our buildings are in good condition.
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Programs
Responsibilities:
· Manage new intakes with HERO, report unit vacancies, accept referrals, ensures appropriate family composition is being sent by HERO;
· Complete intakes and orientation for new residents when social service staff are not onsite;
· Orients new residents to building and apartment when social service staff are not onsite;
· Provide crisis management and intervention;
· Handle incidents and report to DHS & Assistant Director;
· Report incidents to DHS and priority one incidents to Assistant Director;
· Serve as the on-site contact point person for DHS;
· Serve as Point person for 48-hour log outs and input all documentation for above in CARES.
· Supervise Security on their shift;
· Scheduled security rotations through the building;
· Ensure compliance with DHS regulations and procedures;
· Conduct House Security orientation and on-site job training;
· Provide crisis management in conjunction with Social Work Supervisor;
· Ensure a trauma informed practice approach is utilized with residents in dealing with behavioral issues;
· Works closely with the Social Work Supervisor in assuring that the Security staff communicates in a timely manner all resident concerns to the Case Managers, to include follow through on noncompliance issues, and all matters that might impact the residents’ completion of identified goal;
· Meet with Assistant Director for regular supervision;
· Perform other tasks as assigned.
TRAUMA INFORMED MODEL:
· Effectively use and practice Sanctuary Models tools, safety plans, community meetings, team meetings, red flag reviews, and self-care in the program to create a non-violent and trauma sensitive culture.
· Promote and model the core values and mission of Providence House (compassion, non-violence, hospitality, and community) and the seven Sanctuary Model commitments to create a non-violent and trauma sensitive culture.
· Integrate the Sanctuary Model SELF (safety, emotional management, loss, and future) framework into daily practice to ensure quality care and an effective work environment.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
· Residential experience working with homeless population.
· Able to work under minimum supervision.
· F80 Certification required.
· Excellent oral and written communication.
· Excellent computer skills.
· Requires travel in Brooklyn.
· Compatible philosophy with the Providence House mission and Sanctuary model of trauma informed care.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Providence House residence is 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Shift Supervisors must be available to work a minimum of 40 shifts annually, at least 12 of which must be on agency-observed holidays and working Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day is mandatory as three of the holidays. If a Shift Supervisor is unable to consistently work required shifts, their eligibility to remain active on the Per Diem roster will be reassessed. This person must be available to work weekdays, nights, weekends, & holidays. The office location for this position is in Brooklyn, New York.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This position is an hourly, non-exempt position paid $24.00 USD per hour and $36.00 USD overtime rate. It is eligible to earn at the Overtime Rate when working agency-observed holiday shifts. Paid time off benefits include 1 personal day annually and 7 sick days pursuant to the NYC Paid Safe and Sick Leave Law. Wellness Benefits include an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
