Position Summary
The CNA/HHA provides non-medical personal care, companionship, and household assistance to seniors and individuals with disabilities in their homes. Caregivers work from individualized care plans and report changes in client condition to agency leadership.
ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care
- Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Provide toileting assistance and incontinence care with dignity and respect
- Assist with ambulation, transfers, and repositioning
- Encourage client independence while providing safe and compassionate care
Household Assistance
- Perform light housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and organizing
- Complete laundry and linen changes
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks
- Assist with grocery shopping and other approved errands
Companionship & Client Support
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Escort clients to appointments and community outings when needed
- Provide medication reminders (reminders only—no medication administration)
- Observe and promptly report changes in client condition
Documentation
- Complete required visit documentation for every shift
- Accurately document services provided and client observations
- Report incidents, falls, or changes in condition immediately
QualificationsRequired
- Active Texas CNA certification or previous Home Health Aide (HHA) or professional caregiving experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Valid government-issued photo identification
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Smartphone capable of receiving agency communications
Preferred
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification is strongly preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold certification are encouraged to apply, and certification requirements and available resources will be discussed during the hiring process.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred
- Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice support, or mobility assistance
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in various client home environments
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect at all times
