Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. Experience with POS systems, cashiering, and retail sales is preferred. Bilingual skills and supervising experience are a plus, but not required. This role offers an opportunity to develop sales and merchandising skills while working in a fast-paced grocery store environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate POS systems efficiently to process customer transactions accurately
- Handle cash, credit, and debit payments with precision and integrity
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing inquiries
- Assist with product demos, upselling, and promoting store specials to enhance sales
- Maintain proper merchandising and stocking of shelves to ensure product availability
- Ensure the checkout area remains clean, organized, and welcoming
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members using professional phone etiquette
- Support inventory management through stock replenishment and product placement
- Supervise or assist in supervising other team members when needed
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic cashiering functions
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions and sales tracking
- Experience in grocery store or retail sales environments preferred
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse customers
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, and product demonstration techniques
- Upselling skills to promote products effectively
- Basic math skills for handling cash and making change confidently
- Supervising experience is a bonus for leadership opportunities
- Excellent phone etiquette and professional communication skills
