Overview
The Welder B is a mid-level skilled role responsible for performing welding, fabrication, and repair work on heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, and structural components. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining established safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform layout, cutting, welding, and repair of heavy and/or farm equipment
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders accurately
Execute welding tasks using various processes, including electrode (stick) and acetylene welding
Weld in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead)
Repair and fabricate metal components to required specifications
Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with standards
Maintain welding tools, equipment, and work areas in safe working condition
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Work independently or as part of a team to meet production goals
Qualification Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Demonstrated attention to detail and quality of work
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Technical Requirements
Must successfully pass a B-Grade Welding Test, demonstrating proficiency in:
Layout, cutting, welding, and repair of heavy or farm equipment
Reading and working from blueprints and technical drawings
Use of welding equipment, tools, and supplies
Welding test coupons to required standards
Advanced use of welding tools
Welding in multiple positions
Acetylene and electrode (stick) welding
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in heavy equipment or agricultural repair
Additional welding certifications
Familiarity with shop and field repair environments
Working Conditions
Work performed in shop and/or outdoor environments
Exposure to noise, heat, welding fumes, and heavy machinery
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching
Ability to work in confined or awkward positions as needed
