Western Wisconsin Health is seeking a full-time Financial Counselor (1.0 FTE) to join the Business Office. The primary focus of the position is to counsel and assist patients/guarantors in finding ways to meet their financial obligations for services provided at Western Wisconsin Health. Notify insurance companies of admissions to begin the pre-certification process and supply information about the patient and turning it over to Utilization Review for clinical information. Call insurance to initiate the prior authorization process on any service that would require a prior approval/notification. Minimum Qualifications:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or 6+ months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of Insurance Products, Medicare, Medicaid and PPO’s

Understanding of Rural Health Clinic and Critical Access Hospital billing requirements

Previous experience with Epic

Previous experience in healthcare billing and/or patient counseling
