Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess patients preoperatively and review medical history, laboratory results, allergies, and surgical consent.
- Develop and implement individualized perioperative nursing care plans.
- Prepare the operating room with appropriate instruments, supplies, medications, and equipment for scheduled procedures.
- Function as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment and ensure adherence to aseptic technique and infection prevention standards.
- Perform surgical counts with the surgical technologist to ensure patient safety.
- Assist surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team during procedures.
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and communicate changes to the surgical team.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment, including electrosurgical units, patient monitoring systems, suction devices, and specialty equipment.
- Accurately document intraoperative nursing care, medications, implants, specimens, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, and transport.
- Assist with patient transfer to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) while providing a complete handoff report.
- Participate in emergency surgical procedures and trauma cases as needed.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and regulatory compliance.
Key Requirements: Active RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and scrub/circulate experience. CNOR certification a plus.
Schedule: Monday through Friday.
