Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, immunizations, and specialized treatments like botulinum toxin therapy.
- Manage complex care procedures such as catheterization, suturing, ventilator management, dialysis support, and ostomy care.
- Provide acute pain management and participate in trauma medicine protocols at Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and basic imaging procedures like sonography or mammography.
- Assist with emergency response activities such as airway management, triage in urgent care or emergency room settings, and critical care transport when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation for all patient interactions.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), or emergency medicine.
- Demonstrated expertise with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry.
- Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center work is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with specialized fields such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), infectious disease care, behavioral health, geriatrics (including memory care), hospice & palliative medicine, or occupational health.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities in settings like assisted living or home & community care is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with medical terminology enhances your ability to deliver precise patient care.
- Additional skills that strengthen your candidacy include aseptic technique, sterile processing, gastrostomy tube feeding management, trauma medicine protocols, and post-acute care experience.
