Overview
Join our team as a Solids Control Technician at Pippin Energy Services and play a vital role in maintaining efficient drilling operations on oil and gas rigs. In this energetic and hands-on position, you will be responsible for managing solids control equipment, ensuring the proper handling and disposal of drilling waste, and supporting crew members in maintaining safety and operational excellence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in challenging environments while honing your technical skills in equipment troubleshooting, rigging, and heavy machinery operation.
Duties
- Operate and maintain solids control equipment such as shale shakers, centrifuges, and pumps to manage drilling mud and waste effectively.
- Set up, rig, and troubleshoot pumping systems used for fluid transfer and waste removal on the rig site.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify issues early, perform necessary repairs or adjustments, and ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with the installation and rigging of equipment using cranes, excavators, forklifts, or other heavy machinery while adhering to safety protocols.
- Manage the safe handling of hazardous materials by properly using personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protection, and following OSHA safety standards.
- Support crew management by coordinating tasks efficiently, ensuring safety procedures are followed during outdoor work activities.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment operation logs, safety inspections, and incident reports to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Skills
- Experience troubleshooting pumping systems, hydraulic components, and other solids control machinery.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and loaders used on construction sites or oil rigs.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques, horizontal drilling processes, and oil & gas industry standards.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety protocols including OSHA guidelines.
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to respiratory protection, PPE use, and heavy equipment operation to ensure a safe working environment.
- Excellent communication skills for crew management and coordination during complex operations involving multiple teams.
