Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and motivated American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support students in a school setting in Ventura, CA. The interpreter will facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, staff, and peers to ensure equal access to educational opportunities..
Responsibilities
- Provide sign language interpreting services in classroom and school-related activities.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards.
- Assist students in accessing instructional and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and school administrators.
Requirements
- Educational Interpreter Performance Evaluation (EIPA), level 4 or above
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACC1), level 4 or above
- NAD certification, level 4 or above
- Educational Signs Skills Evaluation Interpreter (ESSE-1), level 4 or above
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification from a recognized interpreting organization preferred.
