Duties
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
- Manage tax compliance processes, including individual, corporate, and specialized tax reporting such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) and estate planning.
- Conduct audits and internal control assessments to ensure regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
- Assist with mergers & acquisitions by performing due diligence, financial analysis, and integration support.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, balance sheets, and perform month-end closing procedures using accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), securities law, and other financial regulations.
- Provide client communication by explaining complex financial concepts clearly and professionally while supporting tax return preparation and tax law interpretation.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required with proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, technical accounting standards, and regulatory compliance accounting.
- Extensive experience in tax law, tax reporting, tax compliance, individual tax preparation, corporate tax expertise, and related areas such as estate planning and wills/trusts & estate law.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or similar tools; experience with financial analysis software is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to perform financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making.
- Strong client communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly while maintaining professionalism.
- Knowledge of securities law, non-profit accounting practices, payroll processing, accounts payable management, budgeting techniques, asset management strategies, private equity considerations, and regulatory reporting requirements is highly desirable.
