About the Role
Syncopated Synergy is looking to add a Staff Accountant to our team. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role focused on managing the day-to-day financial records for a portfolio of 8 to 12 members for a medical practice management and consulting company. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting, helping our clients make informed business decisions based on reliable data.
You will work closely with the Operations team at Syncopated Synergy as well as a point of contact at the client managing the portfolio of members. This duo will provide guidance and oversight, but in some cases you may be the primary point of contact with the client. We work in a highly collaborative environment where you will receive the support you need to deliver excellent outcomes.
This is a scalable position that can grow from part-time to full-time as the member base expands. Compensation will range from $25 to $40 per hour based on experience.
Primary Responsibilities will often include:
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of income and expenses in accordance with accounting standards
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including data entry, tracking, and reporting
- Perform weekly and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies proactively
- Deliver clear, timely, and insightful financial updates to members, their teams, and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) stakeholders
- Support implementation and optimization of the Office Management System (OMS), including setup and account mapping
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, preparing and posting monthly and year-end journal entries
- Prepare year-end financials and coordinate with members’ CPAs, including processing adjusting entries upon return
- Partner with the Finance Manager to support financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc inquiries

- Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 1 to 3 years of professional accounting experience
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger fundamentals
- Experience supporting month-end close processes
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Working knowledge of 1099 preparation and basic tax filings preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel including basic formulas and data organization
- Prior experience in a client-facing or professional services environment
- Experience working across multiple clients or entities simultaneously
