Special Education/Special Class or AIS: Elementary
The District is seeking 4 dedicated, compassionate Teaching Assistants to support students with disabilities in a 12:1:2 or 8:1:3 special class setting at the elementary level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the special education teacher to support students with complex learning needs. We are also seeking 1 Teaching Assistant to support AIS services in an elementary setting.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group support for students with special needs in a 12:1:2 or 8:1:3 special class setting.
- Assist the special education teacher in implementing specially designed instructional activities
- Support the delivery of specially designed instruction aligned with students' IEP goals
- Assist in managing classroom behavior using established behavior management strategies and supports
- Monitor student engagement, participation, and progress throughout the school day
- Assist with data collection related to student performance and behavior
- Support students with transitions, routines, and daily living skills, including those with toileting needs as needed
- Collaborate with the special education teacher, related service providers and special area teachers to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
Essential Skills and/or Experience:
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to implement behavior management strategies and follow teacher's direction
- Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and commitment to supporting all learners.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
Job Qualifications
Requirements:
- NYS Teaching Assistant certification (or eligibility) required
- NYS Teacher Certification in B-2, 1-6, literacy or students with disabilities helpful
