Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional support to individuals in various care settings. Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring safety during meal times.
- Support medication administration following care plans and protocols, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of prescribed treatments.
- Provide personal transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings, promoting independence and social engagement.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and sanitation tasks in accordance with health standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized care plans that address each client’s unique needs, including dementia care, autism support, or neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and first aid/CPR certification.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and patient transfers safely.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s), or neurodevelopmental disorders is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation for client outings or appointments is desirable.
