Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Directional Boring Operator / HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating specialized construction machinery to install underground utilities with precision and safety. Your expertise will ensure efficient project execution while adhering to all safety regulations and industry standards. Responsibilities
- Operate directional boring machines and other heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and water trucks to perform underground utility installations.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Utilize utility locating equipment and techniques to accurately identify existing underground infrastructure before drilling.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and company safety protocols at all times to maintain a safe work environment.
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and team members to plan drilling operations and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, equipment usage, and safety inspections for project documentation.
- Support other construction site activities such as paving, tanker operations, grader operation, backhoe operation, and other related tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment or similar construction machinery in utility installation projects.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on heavy equipment like Caterpillar machinery and other brands.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving including dump trucks, water trucks, tankers, or similar vehicles.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to OSHA standards is essential.
- Construction site experience with familiarity in utility locating, excavation, grading, paving, and heavy equipment operation such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, loaders, graders, and water trucks.
- Ability to operate loader equipment like Caterpillar loaders or similar models confidently.
- Excellent understanding of construction procedures including horizontal drilling techniques and underground utility installation processes.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring safety compliance on-site.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials and operating machinery for extended periods.

Pay: $25.55 - $35.77 per hour
